Aboyne Mountain Bike Park
Managed by:
Mid Deeside Ltd
Project Description
A mountain bike skills area will be created in the community owned Bell Wood to the east of Aboyne. The project was identified as a priority in a recent community plan and has engaged fully with both the young people of the area and the existing woodland users.
The project will include the construction of a "pump track", a down hill section and a jumps area.
The park will not only provide an activity for local enthusiasts, it will complement the area’s growing reputation as a destination for mountain bike tourism.
Quote from Participating Organisation
Dale Kitching, Secretary, Aboyne Bike Park Association, said:
“Aboyne Bike Park Association is a grass-roots community project linked to Mid Deeside Limited. The group plans to build a mountain bike park in the Bell Wood community woodland, Aboyne. Young people in the village have for years requested more facilities for teenage activities.
“The award of LEADER funding for this project completes the funding package and will enable us to go ahead with the project as soon as planning consent has been granted. This is great news for all the young people involved in the project who will hopefully be able to use the completed bike park before the end of 2012!”
