Managed by:
Turriff Tourism Action Group
Project Description
The project is to commission a contemporary piece of public art, the Turra Coo, to promote the cultural heritage of Turriff and encourage interest and economic activity. Local schools will be involved in researching the history of the Turra Coo. Visitors will learn about the local story. There is strong community support for the proposal and the local tourism group has been closely involved in fundraising.
Quote from Participating Organisation
Kate Ferguson, Chairperson, Turriff Tourism Action Group:
"This is not only a fantastic financial boost to the Turra Coo Sculpture Project but our successful application will also assist us with sourcing the remaining funds to progress with the year long programme which aims to involve the Turriff community to explore the contemporary relevance of the legendary Turra Coo and influence the creation of a technically-innovative landmark sculpture."
