Acting Up

Managed by:

The Portsoy Players

Project Description

The Portsoy Players were formed to develop and perform a programme of drama productions and educational workshops in Portsoy and the surrounding rural area.

The project is to run a 2 year programme to develop the Portsoy Players as a sustainable enterprise.  The programme will offer learning through the arts with performance-based work, helping to identify and develop local talent and increase local and visitor audiences for drama.

Quote from Participating Organisation

Lorna Summers, Chairman, Portsoy Players

Portsoy Players are delighted by the LEADER Local Action Group’s support for this project – it will make a difference in many ways, attracting local talent from all generations and developing new ways of working together.  Over the next 2 years we will build on the numbers of people who attend  local theatre productions - the project will ensure that they spread the word, return to watch, and even participate in acting or one of the other many backstage crafts.  It’s much more than amateur dramatics – it involves people from all walks of life, all ages and abilities in a fun way, adding significantly to the quality of community life.”
