Pitsligo Castle - Consolidation & Repair of Structure - Phase 1
Managed by:
Pitsligo Castle Trust
Project Description
The project is phase one of a five phase programme to consolidate and repair the A Listed Pitsligo Castle structure. The castle dates from 1424 and was enlarged during 16th + 17th Centuries to become one of the “Palaces” of the North East. The consolidation programme will be undertaken following an agreed plan brought forward by Pitsligo Castle Trust and Historic Scotland. The project will encourage local school children and members of the community to get actively involved and to learn about Jacobite History and Scottish Heraldry.
Quote from Participating Organisation
Richard Leith, Project Manager of Pitsligo Castle Trust
“The Pitsligo Castle Trust has persevered to secure the development of a project in and around the great courtyard Castle of Pitsligo, Rosehearty, which could play a significant role in revitalising the local community. The grant assistance awarded from LEADER for a first phase of works to secure the castle structure is a major show of faith in the Trust's project proposals.”
