Putting the Heart Back into Maud - Final Phase
Managed by:
Maud Village Trust
Project Description
Maud Village Trust was established in 2002 to purchase and regenerate the former Mart site in the Centre of Maud. To date, a large part of the site has been developed to include a Community Service Centre.
Community consultation was carried out to determine options for the remainder of the site and resulted in community preference to develop an area for recreational purposes with outdoor space for community events.
The project is to develop the remaining ¾ acre former Mart site to create a centre piece for the village, providing a recreational area with gardens, seating, planting and play equipment and improving access for the Community Service Centre.
Quote from Participating Organisation
Pat Buckman, Company Secretary, Maud Village Trust
“It was great news to receive the award from the LEADER Fund. It will now enable us to complete the development of the Old Mart Site which we set out to do in 2002. What looks like an uncared for piece of land at present, we can now transform into an environmentally friendly area to include an attractive garden and play area for the benefit of the villagers and visitors to Maud.”
