Deveron District Bio-Security & Fisheries Development Project
Managed by:
Deveron, Bogie & Isla Rivers Trust
Project Description
The project is to employ a full-time Fisheries Development Officer over three years to survey the presence of invasive, non-native plants resulting in the commencement of a control & eradication programme. The Development Officer will promote the Deveron district as a top angling and visitor destination and will work with local schools and groups to increase awareness of conservation.
Quote from Participating Organisation
Richard Miller, Senior Biologist
“Securing LEADER funding is a monumental achievement for the Deveron, Bogie & Isla Rivers Charitable Trust and is key for the Deveron District Bio-Security and Fisheries Development Project to proceed. The LEADER funding will undertake actions to control invasive, non-native species and, at the same time, will help promote Deveronside as a top angling/visitor destination for all ages which will, in turn, help the local economy.”
