Project Description

The project aims to enable access to broadband for all businesses and residents within the communities of Ballogie & Birse who wish to take up the Broadband Enabling Technology service.  Landline broadband in the area is currently very slow and unreliable, and in some instances unavailable due to the distance from the telephone exchange.  Community consultation demonstrated there is a clear desire for broadband to be installed.  The project will support many local businesses as well as households.

For both social and economic reasons good internet connections are an essential lifeline for rural communities.  LEADER funding will ensure that remoter areas in Aberdeenshire such as Ballogie can be part of global technological advances.  Without this funding we would not be able to afford the capital costs involved in obtaining reliable landline broadband.
