Scolty Trails Enhancement Project (STEP)
Managed by:
Banchory & District Initiative Ltd
Project Description
STEP aims to improve and enhance existing path networks on Scolty Hill, a major local and tourist attraction on South Deeside near Banchory. As recorded by Forestry Commission Scotland, the paths are used by over 1000,000 people per annum. The project is community led and community supported. Improved Scolty paths will link to the strategic Deeside Way.
Quote from Participating Organisation
Tony Brown, Director, Banchory & District Initiative and Chair, Scolty Trails Enhancement Project:
“It was marvellous news to learn that our application for LEADER funding had been successful – indeed, an early and much appreciated Christmas present! The award will allow the repair of the very badly damaged footpaths on Scolty Hill to proceed without delay whereas, without LEADER, it might have been some considerable time before this work could be done - with increasing impact on the pleasure visitors get from the hill.”
