Children's Community Voice - Community Engagement and Delivery

Managed by:

Garioch Area Partnership

Project Description

Garioch Area Partnership are to deliver a series of engagement events in rural primary schools.  The events will be a platform for community leaders such as elected councillors, community councillors or police officers to be “grilled” by the school children on important issues.  The programme will allow children’s voices to be heard whilst increasing confidence and instilling a sense of community empowerment and pride.  The funding will support a part time officer to manage the project as well as financing the event costs.

Quote from Participating Organisation

Penny Downes, Development Worker, Garioch Area Partnership, said:

“The Garioch Area Partnership is delighted to receive funding from Aberdeenshire LEADER.  This funding will enable our Children's Community Voice project to really kick into action in and around the rural primary schools in the Garioch area. We have consultation events lined up where children will get the opportunity voice their issues directly to the people who can help make positive changes in their community.

“Children and young people don't attend community or council meetings, so we are bringing the 'decision makers' to the children's environment, where they are in control. We just can't wait to get started!”
